Response: Barbie Doll

Why this response?
Okay, this image is probably too obvious, but it really illustrates the poem perfectly. We can see a young, beautiful girl, and by her careless dress and easy smile, she hasn't been conditioned to hate the way she looks yet.  But right over her probably-beautiful eyes is a harsh message that cuts you.  The poem is  about a young girl who is conditioned to think she's ugly until she believes it herself.  This picture intensifies the idea of the poem, because this little girl could be the girl from the poem.

How does this relate to growth?
When I think of growth, I usually associate it with getting bigger and better, but this picture and poem remind us that growth can also hurt.
